"Gone Home"

Friends and many former Scouts and supporters of our Group will be deeply saddened to hear of Harry's death on Monday 8 December.

Harry and Joyce were in at the start of the 16th, in its second phase in 1957, and were the driving force behind the building of a strong and vibrant Group on a solid foundation. So much so that the 16th has continued to this day, over 50 years on, to provide active, enjoyable and challenging Scouting to new generations of young people in Torrisholme and beyond, making it one of the most successful Groups around.

Amongst many innovative ideas that were introduced, one of the most memorable to those involved were expeditions abroad, particularly to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland. Never to be forgotten.

Harry's cheery disposition and willingness to help others will be greatly missed. He could turn his hand to most things, including constructing Scout headquarters when necessary!

Harry's funeral took place at the Church of the Ascension in Torrisholme at 2.00 pm on Wednesday 17 December 2008 followed by cremation at L & M Crematorium.
