Navigator Badge Expedition

10 June 2012

Today we travelled out to Roeburndale to complete the requirements for the Navigator badge. The weather turned out to be somewhat better than forecast being warmer than expected with sunny periods later.

Altogether we walked about 15 km's; Early on we had to negotiate fields full of crops and knee length grass across the footpaths.

Shaun performed his good turn for the day releasing a lamb trapped by its head in a wire fence. At Lower Salter the Scouts spent a few minutes of reflection inside the Methodist Chapel.

Near Thornbush there were some interesting witch scarecrows on the fellside; quite eerie! At Curwen Hall Farm we examined an ancient stone cross by the roadside before returning to the minibus in Hornby.
