SBH Camp - Silverdale

15 Scouts and 3 Explorers took part in the 2011 Spring Bank Holiday camp, which took place at SilverHelme campsite from 27 - 30 May.

There was a full programme of activities both on-site and off-site. On Saturday afternoon two Patrols went searching for Geocaches in the Silverdale area with our recently acquired GPS's whilst one Patrol enjoyed kayaking at Borwick. On Saturday evening the Patrols cooked their meals backwoods style on open fires.

On Sunday there was more kayaking & geocaching as well as an opportunity on site to explore the environment and practice axe and saw skills and to work toward camper and camp cook badges. A wide game and an enjoyable campfire finalised proceedings.

We undertook some service to the site in the form of cleaning the toilet block and clearing a pathway from a fallen branch.

The weather was a little mixed with some heavy showers and strong cold winds interspersed with sunny periods. Fortunately the weather cleared on Monday afternoon to enable us to pack up in the dry.

Check out our activities on this video.

An enjoyable camp in beautiful surroundings.
