Camping Competition 2011

The 2011 Lonsdale District camping competition took place in mixed weather at Littledale campsite over the weekend of 17 - 19 June.

Just four teams took part in the event this year, which was rather a shame as, once again, there was a very interesting programme of activities.

The teams set up their sites on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Following Flagbreak the teams took part in a number of pioneering projects including building a cantilever bridge, building a 'lashing-free' bridge and a signalling tower.

Teams had to cook meals over open fires and there was a wide game and a quiz on Saturday evening.

On Sunday teams arranged their own programme of activities and, in wet conditions, our Scouts were scheduled to practice some rope whipping and take part in a quiz organised by the Patrol Leader.

When all the points were totted up our team triumphed for the 5th consecutive  year winning the Centenary Camping Trophy, which was presented by John Buckley, District Scout Leader.

Our winning team are pictured above.

Well done to all!
